Gims Assistant 1
Description
Gims Assistant
This is a script designed to enhance the workflow for GIMS in 3ds Max.
Installation
- Navigate to your scripts folder, typically located at "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2016\scripts\Startup".
- Drag and drop the "gims_helper.ms" file into the Startup folder.
- Launch 3ds Max.
- To access the Gims Assistant, open the Utilities tab and click on "Open Gims Helper".
Model Tools
- "Create Gta Model": Applies the mesh modifier to the selected geometry and parents it under an EGIMS_V_Model. Multiple selections can be treated as individual items or a single entity.
- "Static Collision": If checked, creates a separate EGIMS_V_Collision_Composite, duplicates the item, parents it to the composite, and applies the appropriate modifier.
- "Embedded Collision": If checked, creates a child EGIMS_V_Collision_Composite under the model, duplicates the item, parents it to the composite, and applies the appropriate modifier.
- "Model Name": Assigns the specified name to the model.
Collision Tools
- "Create Gta Collision": Creates an EGIMS_V_Collision_Composite, applies the necessary modifier, and parents it under the composite.
- "Set Collision Flags": Sets common collision flags: MAP ANIMAL, MAP COVER, MAP DYNAMIC, MAP VEHICLE, MAP WEAPON.
- "Composite Name": Assigns the specified name to the composite.
Shader Tools
- "Set All Shaders": Assigns the selected shader from the dropdown menu to all materials of the chosen model(s).
Vertex Tools
- "Paint Vertices": Assigns the selected color from the color box to every selected vertex.
Future Ideas
- Automatically assign collision materials based on object names (e.g., "grass" objects receive a grass material).
- Allow users to customize shaders, flags, default model/composite names in dropdowns and textboxes.
