The FX-05 Xiuhcoatl ("Fire Serpent in Nahuatl language") is an assault rifle created and developed by the Center for Applied Research and Technological Development of the Military Industry (CIADTIM) of Mexico and led at the time by Brigadier General industrial engineer Jose Antonio Iztiga Landeros, leader of the FX-05 project and the collaboration of more than 64 military engineers.
