Classic Weapon Color Schemes: Replacements for Authentic Looks

Probably not compatible with most of weapon mods. If you want to use a weapon mod, be sure to delete the same files in this dlc pack.

Not many people realize that weapon colors differ between older and newer gaming consoles. Instead of primarily black like on PC, weapons on older consoles feature a mix of black, brown, tan, and dark blue. Some weapons, such as the carbine rifle, have green or orange accents, similar to a minigun's button.

This mod aims to recreate those old-gen weapon colors for a more nostalgic experience. Keep in mind that visual differences may still exist due to variations in shaders, lighting, specularity, and graphics mods. The mod utilizes original colors from older weapon models, carefully matched to appropriate slots.

Due to the less detailed nature of older weapon models, some creative liberties were taken. For instance, the musket retains some gold accents from the current generation version, while its body and wood are recolored to match the old-gen aesthetic. Similarly, the grenade launcher's gray part is changed to orange, mirroring the minigun. Not every weapon exhibits significant visual differences!

One challenge encountered during development: some weapon models had modified skin zones, making it impossible to perfectly replicate the original look. The special carbine stock has already been adjusted for greater authenticity and further changes are planned (such as modifying the carbine rifle grip or sawed-off shotgun parts).

Currently, the mod only modifies the default black tint and a few additional tints for specific weapons. Future updates will aim to change all tints for improved accuracy.

Changelog:
  • 1.0 - Initial release

    • Included green tint (trailer 1 style) for advanced rifle.
