The CRJ900, a stretched 76–90 seat variant of the CRJ700, features longer fuselage plugs added both ahead and behind the wings. It also sports strakes at the rear. The CRJ900 competes with the Embraer 175 and boasts superior efficiency per seat-mile according to Bombardier. Mesa Air Group was the initial customer for the CRJ900, adorned in America West livery. In 2020, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries acquired the CRJ program entirely.
