Armed YF-12A Interceptor

Many people are familiar with the Blackbird, but did you ever think: "Yea, the Blackbird is cool and all, but it needs weapons!" This mod is for those who do. While very famous, the Blackbird was actually the last aircraft in a series that began with the CIA's A-12 Cygnus spyplane. The A-12 performed a similar role to the SR-71 and was a single-seat aircraft.

The YF-12A was built from the A-12 design intending to make it an interceptor armed with long-range AIM-47 Falcon missiles. However, the YF-12A never progressed past the prototype stage and was later used by NASA. The SR-71A was a further development of the YF-12A, replacing weapon stations with camera equipment for spy missions.

Here are the changes made to the airframe compared to the SR-71 mod:

• - Different front design: chines don't extend completely to the front; round nose.
• - A stabilizer on the bottom of each engine
• - Retractable stabilizer on the bottom of the rear fuselage (functional in-game)
• - Pylon at the outer side of each engine
• - New markings, including different numbers and USAF roundels/markings
• - Openable weapon bays next to the front gear (with firing capability)
• - Non-openable weapon bays behind the openable ones

This is an add-on that replaces the SR-71A Blackbird archive. Don't worry, it includes the SR-71 model as well, so you can simply overwrite the old archive.

(Additional information about a separate SR-71 pilot suit mod has been removed.)
