The Toyota TS030 Hybrid is a race car designed according to Le Mans Prototype regulations. It competed in the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans, with two cars participating in the LMP1 category. The TS030 made history as the first gasoline-powered hybrid vehicle to enter the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The car utilizes a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), a regenerative braking system that charges a supercapacitor. This stored energy provides additional power directed to the rear wheels. Unlike Audi's system, which sent power to the front wheels and was restricted to speeds above 120 km/h, the TS030's KERS could be used at any speed according to the 2012 Le Mans rules.
