Description

Enhanced Postcombustion Systems for Aircraft Modification

This mod aims to enhance the realism of afterburners in Add-On planes within the game. While not fully realistic, it significantly improves the visual representation compared to the default purple flames. The mod supports both original GTA jets and replace versions, but you may need to remove any existing afterburner dummies from these aircraft to prevent the purple flame from persisting.

This initial version focuses on visual enhancements; future updates will incorporate physical effects influencing aircraft behavior. Additionally, offset parameters will be added to the BetterAfterburnerPlanes.txt file, allowing mod authors to fine-tune afterburner positioning if exhaust dummies are not optimally placed.

How to Use:

  1. Copy the following files to your main GTA directory:
    • BetterAfterburners.asi
    • BetterAfterburners.ini
    • BetterAfterburnerPlanes.txt
  2. Customize your desired afterburner activation key within the BetterAfterburners.ini file. Refer to available key codes for guidance. The default key is Num 6.
  3. Add the names of planes you wish to equip with afterburners to the BetterAfterburnerPlanes.txt file, one plane per line. Example entries are already provided.
  4. Customize in-game effects within the BetterAfterburners.ini file using "1" to enable and "0" to disable specific effects.
  5. Launch the game and use your configured key to toggle afterburners on and off.

Important Note:

Your planes must have at least one of the following dummies for the mod to function correctly:

  • exhaust
  • exhaust_2
  • exhaust_3
  • exhaust_4

Changelog:

  • 1.0: Initial release.
  • 1.1: Added a shaking effect (toggleable in the BetterAfterburners.ini).
  • 1.1: Included an option to enable or disable the orange "heat circle" effect.
  • Please update your BetterAfterburners.ini to the latest version.
