Brazzers, a prominent adult film company, was established in 2005 by investors from Montreal. It subsequently became part of Mansef, a larger group of pornographic websites. In 2010, Mansef was acquired by Fabian Thylmann and rebranded as Manwin Inc. Thylmann faced legal trouble in December 2012 when he was extradited from Belgium to Germany on suspicion of tax evasion.

In October 2013, Thylmann sold Manwin's assets, including Brazzers, to an internal management group known as Mindgeek. This group was led by CEO Feras Antoon and shareholder David Tassilo.

Brazzers celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2014 with a billboard in Times Square, New York City. The billboard stood at the corner of 47th and 7th Avenue for the entire month of August.

In 2010, Brazzers had previously used a Times Square billboard to promote its safe sex campaign and introduce its "Get Rubber!" slogan and website.

In September 2016, news broke about a database breach affecting nearly 1 million Brazzers users. The site was hacked in April 2013.
