Malaysian Royal Air Force Su-30MKM Fighter

The Su-30MKM, produced by the Irkut Corporation in Irkutsk, Russia, is based on the Indian Su-30 MKI but features different avionics systems. Winning the Malaysian contract over the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet in 2003, it was considered the most advanced fighter in Asia at the time. However, by 2018, engine issues and spare part availability led to 14 out of 18 being grounded. With China making progress on their Flanker variants, the MKM will need upgrades to remain competitive in the South China Sea's evolving geopolitical landscape.
