Distance Decals 1.0

Config

Description

Description

A small modification that will allow the game to render decals (bullet wounds) at greater distances. If you like sniping, and were annoyed by the lack of visual impact on your target after a nice long shot, this is for you.

Before you ask : i doubt this mod will have any kind of impact on your framerate.

According to the file, the decals used are "low res", so it should be fine. If you have a doubt, or if you find that the mod negatively impacts your framerate, just use the included backup file.

Instructions

I always recommend to use the OpenIV mod folder method, it's safer, cleaner, better.

More informations can be found here :

http://openiv.com/?p=1132

  1. Start OpenIV
  2. Navigate to Grand Theft Auto V \ update \ update.rpf \ common \ data \ effects \ peds
  3. Activate edit mode
  4. Replace (you can just drag and drop) peddamage.xml with the one coming in this archive
  5. Disable edit mode
  6. Enjoy !
If you fuck something up the original file is included in the archive.

Merging

If you're using another mod that mess around with peddamage.xml you can easily merge both mods together by yourself.

  1. Open peddage.xml
  2. Scroll all the way to the bottom
  3. Change the value of LowResTargetDistanceCutoff to whatever, technically higher values = greater distance on rendered decals, but take this with a pinch of salt, no proper testing was done
  4. Done

Last notes

If you plan to include this mod in your mod or straight use some of these values, feel free to, absolutely no issues whatsoever sharing is caring, but drop a little credit somewhere. It doesn't look like it, but research takes time.
